Since Arf is told from the point of view of a dog, Bowser, the author, is able to take readers on a thrilling, suspenseful journey. Bowser’s sense of humor and the fact that kids feel safe when they have a trustworthy canine at their side, allows them to keep turning the pages even though they know the main character, Birdie, is in grave danger. If  you’re looking for a great way to introduce kids to suspense novels, buy Arf with the first book in the series, Woof, settle down with your dog at your side(be it alive, stuffed or imaginary), and start reading!
