Like the book, Lynda Mullaly Hunt's teacher's guide for One for the Murphy's is amazing. Need cause and effect activities? How about vocabulary exercises? Are your students still struggling with cause and effect? Then, look no further. Needless to say, all the Common Core State Standards are listed next to each activity. But I absolutely loved this amazing SAMR activity created by Kristen Picone and featured on Lynda's website. So that's the activity I'm highlighting today. Activity Name: I Can Be Someone's Hero Activity Description: "After reading One for the Murphys aloud with my 5th graders, we analyzed the lyrics to Mariah Carey's song, "Hero," and wrote about how Carley's life and journey connect to the song. We also created an "I Can Be Someone's Hero By..." bulletin board and video. Thank you for this amazing book! Kristen Picone" ![]()
