By Lisa Graff Lexile Level 720 Readers will relate to Francine and Kansas, two fourth grade students, who both find themselves deep into dares they don’t want to do but “have” to complete unless they want to lose the contest, and more importantly, the respect of their peers and their own self-respect. At least that’s what the characters think in the beginning of the book. But Graff masterfully takes readers on a Rube Goldberg ride that shows that self-respect has nothing to do what others think about you but rather centers around working toward goals, helping others, and taking time for good old-fashioned fun!
